A Strange Morning
The first snowflakes started to fall early that morning, glittering like tiny crystals from the clouds. Lukas was already awake, sitting on his bed, staring at the soft white blanket covering the Great F Mountains through the window.
It wasn’t just a normal snowfall, though. Lukas noticed something odd. Each snowflake wasn’t shaped like the soft, fluffy kind he was used to. They were perfectly geometric—small cubes, identical to the blocks in BuildCraft, the 3D creative game he’d been playing the night before.
“That’s… weird,” he mumbled, rubbing his eyes to make sure he wasn’t still dreaming.
Just as he was about to check his computer, the door creaked open. Ellie, in her fuzzy blue pajamas, peeked in.
“It’s snowing!” she announced, grinning ear to ear. “Mom says we can go out after breakfast!”
“You won’t believe it,” Lukas said, pointing to the window. “Look closely.”
Ellie ran to the window and squinted. Her face lit up in shock. “Are those blocks?!”
“Yep. Like in BuildCraft.”
Ellie twirled around excitedly. “So… does that mean the snow will stack like in the game? Can we build stuff with it?”
Lukas hadn’t thought of that. He grinned, already imagining what they could do. “Let’s find out.”
Building Dreams
Breakfast felt like the longest meal in history. Lukas and Ellie practically inhaled their food, and before long, they were wrapped up in coats, hats, and gloves, trudging through the blocky snow in their backyard.
The world looked straight out of a video game. Trees had pixelated layers of white on their branches. The bushes were perfectly cubed. Lukas stomped through the snow and noticed his boots left rectangular footprints.
“This is insane,” he said.
Ellie crouched down and picked up a handful of snow. Instead of crumbling like normal snow, it stayed in a neat block in her hands. “Look, Lukas! It works!”
“Let’s try building something,” Lukas suggested.
Together, they started stacking snow blocks. It was easier than they thought. Each block clicked perfectly into place, like building with giant Lego pieces. In no time, they had made a small snow fort, complete with walls and windows.
“It’s like the game came to life,” Ellie whispered, staring at their creation.
Lukas nodded, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that this was just the beginning. A snowfall like this wasn’t normal—even in the Great F Mountains. It felt as if the boundaries between the real world and the games he loved were starting to blur more and more.
The Rumbling Forest
“What’s next?” Ellie asked as they sat inside their blocky fort, watching the snow continue to fall.
Before Lukas could answer, a soft rumble came from the direction of the forest. Both of them froze.
“Did you hear that?” Lukas asked.
“Mhm,” Ellie murmured nervously, gripping her snowblock tightly.
From the trees, something began to emerge. A shadowy figure—but not like any animal Lukas had ever seen. It was blocky, just like the snow, moving with stiff, jerky motions. As it stepped closer, they could see it more clearly: a giant, pixelated bear made of dark gray blocks, with glowing red eyes staring straight at them.
“Lukas,” Ellie whispered, her voice trembling. “I think it’s time to go back inside.”
Lukas didn’t argue. “Run!”
The two of them burst out of their fort, dashing toward the house as the blocky bear let out a digital-sounding roar and started to give chase. The ground shook slightly with each step the creature took.
Safe… For Now
They reached the back door, slamming it behind them and panting hard.
“What… was that?!” Ellie gasped, peeking out the window. The bear was standing in the middle of the backyard, looking around as if searching for them. Then, slowly, it turned and started to wander back toward the forest.
Lukas frowned, his mind racing. “That wasn’t just from BuildCraft. That looked like something glitched.”
Ellie nodded, still catching her breath. “Do you think the game is leaking into real life?”
“I don’t know,” Lukas said quietly. “But I think we need to figure it out before something worse happens.”
Ellie shivered. Outside, the snow continued to fall in perfect, silent cubes, covering the backyard—and the strange footprints left behind.
